Who we are

BEMO is a family-based investment company focused on forward-driven value creation, always with a pragmatic and entrepreneurial approach. Our investments are centred around long-term partnerships with the ambition to have a lasting positive impact bridging generations.

BEMO is an evergreen investor and owns 100% of its investment capital, guaranteeing a maximum freedom of movement, and allowing us to focus on sustainable value creation with no time constraints.

BEMO is based in Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium and was founded in 1998 by Bernard Moortgat.

Our History

Inspired by heritage, Shaping the future

Over 150 years of proven experience in entrepreneurship and strategic agility. We are drawing from a long family line of entrepreneurs, dating back to 1871 and the origins of the Duvel Moortgat Group with the creation of the Moortgat Brewery by Jan-Leonard Moortgat.

BEMO intends to pursue Duvel Moortgat’s philosophy to remain true to its heritage while adapting to a changing market through strategies of diversification and expansion.

1998

Bernard Moortgat founds BEMO to englobe his family office activities.

1999

Duvel Moortgat is listed on the Brussels stock exchange with BEMO and other family shareholders as reference investors.

2000

BEMO achieves its first real estate project.

2013

BEMO and other family shareholders delist Duvel Moortgat from Euronext Brussels to prioritize the long-term strategy.

2016

The Real Estate portfolio now spans across 
10 properties across 4 key Belgian cities.

2017

BEMO expands its activities into Fund Investments.

2024

Fund Investments now cover over 20 International and Belgian private equity funds.

2025

BEMO strengthens its team to grow into Direct Investments and further professionalise its activities.
